Master Copy ~ Albreicht Durer by Christa-S-Nelson Master Copy ~ Albreicht Durer by Christa-S-Nelson
This is a master copy I had to do for a class. The original is an ink drawing by Albreicht Durer that he did in 1521 of a 93 year old man. (which is pretty impressive considering the time period)

I did this in conte' on toned paper. It was pretty difficult and I'm glad I'm done. lol

Regardless of what one person seems to think, I feel this is an excellent piece and does not need to be "improved" in any way. I would guess 99% of the people on earth wish they could do half as well. Well done!

Welldone, consider putting less charcoal where you know the lighter areas will be, and using the charcoal dust created from covering the darker areas, to shade where you know the lighter regions will be.

The final oil piece Albrecht Durer made after his 'Study of a Man Aged 93' was St Jerome in his study [link] . which is the Master's Study I did as an assignment 11 years ago XD [link]

Eh, reacts the same to tools utilized - still a compacted dust form

I disagree, conte does not blend like charcoal does, it's almost waxier but in a drier form.

Well then find the best tool to blend it, so that you don't have such a dark area to remove medium from. I'm done, as, unless I'm misreading your wording, you aren't the type to accept helpful criticism or suggestions.

no actually I was trying to give you my honest opinion and also explain the how i drew this. :) the way we read conversations over the internet can be very misleading since it isn't an actual face to face conversation. Also please read the artist comments next time and we could have avoided this misunderstanding. :)

I once made a copy of a similar drawing of him aswell. I did it with white pencil on dark green paper.
I really like your version!
